Why can’t my students see my site?

New Moodle course sites are hidden by default, allowing instructors time to prepare content before students can access the site. When your course is ready, you can make it visible to students by updating the Course Site Visibility.

Reusing Course Materials

Moodle allows instructors to reuse course materials from previous terms to save time and maintain consistency.

Communicating with Students

The Announcements forum is the primary tool for sending course-wide messages to students. It appears by default at the top of each Moodle course site and is designed for one-way communication from instructor to students. To send an announcements forum, see Using the Announcements Forum.

When an announcement is posted, students receive an email notification with the message content and can also view it directly in Moodle. Announcements cannot be replied to via email; students must contact the instructor using the instructor’s email address.

Managing Course Participants

Assigning Learning Tasks

In Moodle terminology, an Activities means learning tasks that students can contribute to directly, such as assignments or quizzes. A Resource is a learning task presented by the teacher to students, such as a file or page.

Recording Audio and Video

Managing Moodle Gradebook

  • Can students see each other's grades in Moodle?
    • No. Students cannot see each other's grades in Moodle by default.

Setting Up Quizzes

Submitting Final Grades

Final grades are submitted and confirmed through Workday, not Moodle. The Moodle gradebook does not automatically sync with Workday and should be used as a reference only.
