Adobe Creative Cloud

The following Adobe products are available through ITS Support Center. Colby has a campus-wide license for Adobe, which is available on college-owned machines only. The most often requested products are listed first:

 

Acrobat – is a family of application software and Web services developed by Adobe Systems to view, create, manipulate, print and manage files in Portable Document Format (PDF). The family comprises Acrobat Reader (formerly Adobe Reader), Acrobat (formerly Acrobat Exchange) and Acrobat.com

Creative Cloud –  is a software as a service offering from Adobe Systems that gives users access to a collection of software developed by Adobefor graphic design, video editing, web development, photography, and cloud services.

Illustrator –  is a program used by both artists and graphic designers to create vector images. These images will then be used for company logos, promotional uses or even personal work, both in print and digital form.

InDesign – is a desktop publishing software application produced by Adobe Systems. It can be used to create works such as posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers, and books. InDesign can also publish content suitable for tablet devices in conjunction with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.

Photoshop – is an image editing software developed and manufactured by Adobe Systems Inc.The software allows users to manipulate, crop, resize, and correct color on digital photos.

After Effects –  is a digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application developed by Adobe Systems and used in the post-production process of film making and television production. Among other things, After Effects can be used for keying, tracking, compositing and animation.

Captivate – is a rapid responsive authoring tool that is used for creating elearning content such as software demonstrations, software simulations, branched scenarios, and randomized quizzes in Small Web Formats (.swf) and HTML5 formats.

ColdFusion – is a commercial rapid web application development platform.  The programming language used with that platform is also commonly called ColdFusion, though is more accurately known as CFML.

Dreamweaver – is a proprietary web development tool developed by Adobe Systems.  Adobe Dreamweaver is available for macOS and for Windows.

eLearning –  is a rapid responsive authoring tool that is used for creating elearning content such as software demonstrations, software simulations, branched scenarios, and randomized quizzes in Small Web Formats (.swf) and HTML5 formats.

Flash – Player (labeled Shockwave Flash in Internet Explorer and Firefox) is freeware software for using content created on the Adobe Flashplatform, including viewing multimedia, executing rich Internet applications, and streaming video and audio.

Font Folio –  is a collection of more than 2,300 fonts from the Adobe Type Library in OpenType format, which provides enhanced linguistic support, advanced typographic features, and true cross-platform compatibility. Use Font Folio to expand your design options in virtually any medium – including print, web, video, and electronic documents.

FrameMaker – is a document processor designed for writing and editing large or complex documents, including structured documents. It is produced by Adobe.

Freehand – is for creating two-dimensional vector graphics that are oriented primarily to professional illustration, desktop publishing and content creation for the Web.

InCopy – s a professional word processor which can ntegrate with Adobe InDesign. InDesign is used to publish printed material, including newspapers and magazines, whereas InCopy is used for general word processing. The software enables editors to write, edit, and design documents.

Muse – is a website builder that allows designers to create fixed, fluid, and adaptive websites without having to write any code. Muse generates static websites giving users the freedom to host their sites with any hosting provider. … This application is available through Adobe’s Creative Cloud subscription.

PageMaker – is a desktop publishing software program that allows you to view entire pages of a publication, such as a report, pamphlet or booklet. Therefore, it’s easy to format a document’s layout and control various design details, such as fonts and graphics, prior to printing or distribution.

Photoshop Elements –  is a raster graphics editor for entry-level photographers, image editors and hobbyists. It contains most of the features of the professional version but with fewer and simpler options. The program allows users to create, edit, organize and share images.

Photoshop Lightroom – is a photo processor and image organizer developed by Adobe Systems for Windows and macOS. It allows viewing, organizing and retouching large numbers of digital images. Lightroom’s edits are non-destructive.

Premiere Elements – is a video editing software published by Adobe Systems. It is a scaled-down version of the Adobe Premiere Pro and is tailored to novice editors and consumers. The entry screen offers clip organization, editing and auto-movie generation options.

Premiere Pro – is a timeline-based video editing software application. It is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud, which includes video editing, graphic design, and web development programs.

Presenter – is an eLearning software solution released by Adobe Systems available on the Microsoft Windows platform as a Microsoft Powerpoint plug-in, and on both Windows and OS X as the screencasting and video editing tool Adobe Presenter Video Express. It is mainly targeted towards learning professionals and trainers. In addition to recording one’s computer desktop and speech, it also provides the option to add quizzes and track performance by integrating with learning management systems.

 

How Do I Get It?

Faculty and staff can contact the ITS Support Center to have it installed on their Colby-issued device. Most of this software is also available in Lovejoy 400 and the Bixler Media Lab.
