Colby Phone System: Zoom Phone

Zoom Phone is apart of the Zoom platform, and it's Colby's Web-based phone system for faculty and staff. With Zoom Phone, phone calls can be made from the Zoom Workplace app that comes pre-installed on all Colby issued laptops or desktops (Windows and MacOS), can also be used on smartphones through the Zoom Mobile App (Android or iOS), and on traditional office desk phones.

Highlights

  • Unified Workspace: Colby extensions are tied to colby.edu accounts through Zoom accounts, eliminating the need to manage separate communications software or physical desk phones.
  • Seamless Mobility: Zoom Phone allows faculty and staff to place and receive calls from any device- laptop, desktop, or smartphone, wherever they work.
  • Professional Privacy: Faculty and staff can conduct business using their official campus extension without revealing personal cell phone numbers.
  • Enhanced Collaboration: Voice calls can be escalated to full Zoom video meetings with a single click.
  • Smart Voicemail Management: Voicemail is automatically delivered alongside audio attachments directly to your Zoom apps and campus email.
  • Personal Account Customization: Faculty and staff can tailor their calling experience by configuring custom voicemail greetings, setting business and holiday call-routing rules, and managing personal contact shortcuts.
