Setting the Mac OS Energy Saver

Use the Macintosh Energy Saver settings to automatically turn off the monitor. We recommend that public and lab computers not be put to sleep, but displays/hard drives may be put to sleep.

  1. Launch System Preferences either from the Apple menu (top left) or the Dock.

You will have two areas to adjust your power settings: Battery and Power Adapter.

  1. Click on the Battery icon.
  2. Turn display off after: 15 minutes.
  3. Make sure your settings look like this.

  1. Next, click on Power Adapter.
  2. Turn display off after: 15 minutes.
