Connect to Colby apps with Remote Desktop on Windows

Colby Remote App Streaming lets authorized Windows users run selected applications when the software is not installed on their computer. Use this guide to connect through the Remote App Streaming web portal. A Colby VPN connection and access to at least one published application are required.

Application access: The portal displays only the applications assigned to you. If you need an application or do not see an application you expect, contact the ITS Support Center and include the application name and your business need.

Sign on to the Web Portal

  1. Connect to the Colby College VPN.

     
  2. Open Google Chrome or Edge and open this URL
    https://appstreaming.colby.edu/RDWeb/webclient/index.html
     
  3. Enter your Colby ID and Password then click Sign in.

     
  4. You will see your assigned applications. Click the application you want to use to download its RDP connection file.

     
  5. The RDP file will download a moment later. Click the ↓ Download icon in your browser then the Folder icon to show the downloaded file.

     
  6. Double click the RDP file. You can copy this to your Desktop to make it easier to find next time.

     
  7. Enter your Colby ID and Password in the security box then click Ok.

     
  8. Wait for login to complete. First time will take about 1 minute

     
  9. Your app will appear a moment later and you may use it as normal.

     

If an application is missing

  • Confirm that the Colby VPN is connected, then sign out of the portal and sign in again.
  • If the application is still missing, contact the ITS Support Center. Include the application name and your business need so the request can be routed for approval and assignment.
  • If a previously downloaded RDP file stops working, return to the portal and download a current connection file before contacting support.
