Setting up Okta FastPass for Colby-issued computers

Steps for Windows Devices

For macOS Devices:

Before you begin, please make sure Touch ID is enabled on your Mac. Instructions on how to set up Touch ID may be found here.

  1. From the Applications Folder, double-click Self Service.

  2. In the search field, type Okta Verify. As you type, the Self Service item will appear.

  3. Click Install. Allow a moment to complete installation.
  4. Once installed, navigate to okta.colby.edu in a web browser.
  5. Click Sign in with Okta FastPass.

  6. When/if prompted to open Okta Verify.app, select “Always allow..." and click Open Okta Verify.app.

  7. Okta Verify will present “Welcome to Okta Verify”. Click Get Started.

  8. You will be directed to okta.colby.edu to verify this account. Log in using your Colby account credentials and verify your account.
  9. You will be asked to enable Touch ID. Click Enable. If you do not have a fingerprint enrolled, you will be asked to do so.

  10. When/if prompted to verify identity, do so by using Touch ID or clicking Use Password.

  11. After enabling, you will be presented the following Okta Verify screen displaying your Colby account. You may close this screen.

    You did it! Your Colby-issued Mac is now enrolled and may use the option to sign in using Okta FastPass.

 

For Windows Devices:

Before you begin you will need to configure Windows Hello for Business on your device. Instructions can be found here.

  1. Open Software Center by clicking on the Start Menu and searching for Software Center.
  2. In Software Center search for Okta Verify then click Install.
  3. The Okta Verify icon will now appear on your desktop and listed as an installed application. Double-click Okta Verify.

  4. Click Get Started.

  5. Click Next.

  6. In the new account field type okta.colby.edu if not already entered. Click Next.

  7. You will be directed to okta.colby.edu to verify this account. Log in using your Colby account credentials.
  8. You will be asked to Enable Windows Hello. Click Enable.

  9. Once enabled the Okta Verify application will list your Colby account.

    You did it! Your Colby-issued Windows computer is now enrolled and may use the option to sign in using Okta FastPass.
