The Sassafras Keyserver client, aka KeyAccess, is used to allow the installation of software that needs a special license to be shared. Two examples of this are FileMaker Pro and Stata 17. Follow these instructions to install the client. A restart is required.
Macintosh OSX
- Click the Menu Bar select menu item Go > Connect to Server...
- Enter smb://filer.colby.edu/software the server field at the top of the dialog that appears
- Click the Connect button
- If you are prompted "You are attempting to connect....", click Connect
- Enter your Colby email and password if prompted for your Colby username and password
- Navigate to Software > Macintosh > Keyserver Client
- Drag ksp-client.pkg onto your desktop
- Double click ksp-client.pkg on your desktop
- The installer window will open, click Continue and then click Install
- It will prompt you to restart the computer
- After the Restart open KeyAccess client
- On some Mac systems this is under System Preferences > KeyAccess at the bottom of the window
- On other Macs, it is under System Settings... > KeyAccess at the bottom of the list
- Unlock using the lock in the bottom left corner
- Enter keyserver.license.colby.edu into the field name KeyServer Address
- Click on the Logon button
- Click on the OK button after KeyAccess reports a successful connection.
Windows
- Click the Start button (Windows flag icon)
- Type \\filer in the search box
- Press the ENTER key
- Open the Software folder
- Open the folder Windows > Keyserver Client
- Double click ksp-client-x64.exe
- Click Yes when asked if you want to allow the program to make changes to the computer
- Click Install
- Click Finish
- Click Yes to restart the computer
- After restart, find and open KeyAccess on your computer
- For the KeyServer Address: enter keyserver.license.colby.edu
- Click on the Logon button
- Click on the OK button after KeyAccess reports a successful connection.
