Check status of your CrashPlan backup on macOS

Backups are provided for Colby’s faculty and staff computers and run on a scheduled basis. If your backups do not appear to be running properly, or you are unable to find the CrashPlan (formally known as Code42) client (described below), and wish to have your data backed up, please contact the ITS Support Center at support@colby.edu or ext. 4222.

When was my macOS computer last backed up?

CrashPlan automatically backs up your computer data.  If you would like to confirm a successful backup, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open a new Finder window
  2. Navigate, locate and click CrashPlanUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. If / When prompted, log in with your Colby credentials

In the window that appears you should see your computer listed. The icon below the name of your computer will indicate the current status of your backup. See the icon key below.

Please call the ITS Support Center at x4222 or email support@colby.edu if you do not have CrashPlan installed or if you believe your data isn't being backed up.
