Check status of your CrashPlan backup on macOS

Summary

The article will show you the steps to confirm that your backup is working properly on macOS.

Body

Backups are provided for Colby’s faculty and staff computers and run on a scheduled basis. If your backups do not appear to be running properly, or you are unable to find the CrashPlan (formally known as Code42) client (described below), and you wish to have your data backed up, please contact the ITS Support Center at support@colby.edu or ext. 4222.

When was my Windows computer last backed up?

CrashPlan automatically backs up your computer data.  If you would like to confirm a successful backup, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open a new Finder window
  2. Navigate, locate and click CrashPlanUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. If / When prompted, login with your Colby credentials

In the window that appears you should see your computer listed. The icon to the left of the name will indicate the current status of your backup. See the icon key below.

Please call the ITS Support Center at support@colby.edu or ext. 4222 if you do not have CrashPlan installed on your computer or it is not backing up your data.
