Trouble Printing?

Steps for common fixes when users are unable to print.

Are you trying to print but are running into trouble? Here are some things you can try before reaching out to the Support Center.

macOS - Colby-Owned Computers

Make sure you're connected to Colby Access, not Colby Guest Access

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon on the menu bar, and check that the active network is Colby Access, not Colby Guest Access. Switch networks if necessary.

Re-add printer

First, remove the printer. The steps for this change based on the version of macOS you're using.

macOS Ventura 13

  1. Open the Apple menu > System Settings, then click Printers & Scanners in the sidebar. (You may have to scroll down.) Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Control-click the printer in the list on the right, choose Remove Printer..., then click Remove Printer

macOS Monterey 12 or earlier

  1. Open the Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Once the offending printer has been removed, follow the appropriate steps found here.

Kerberos Fix

  1. Quit all open Applications
  2. From the Applications Folder, double-click Self ServiceUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. In the search field, type kerberos.
  4. Choose Kerberos Printer Fix - Apply (Reboot Required) from the search results, note and follow the instructions, then click the Apply button.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. When the fix is applied, restart your machine and try printing again. If you're still unable to print, try removing and re-adding the printer.

Reset Keychain

  1. Open Spotlight Search by clicking the magnifying glass on the menu bar, or by pressing command+Space on the keyboard. Search for Keychain Access, and open the app that displays in the results.
  2. Open the Keychain Access menu located at the very top left corner of your screen next to the Apple logo, and then choose Settings...
  3. In the Settings window that opens, click Reset Default Keychains..., and authorize with your credentials
     

macOS - Personal Computers

Make sure you're connected to Colby Access, not Colby Guest Access

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon on the menu bar, and check that the active network is Colby Access, not Colby Guest Access. Switch networks if necessary.

Windows - Colby-Owned Computers

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the notification tray, and check that the active network is Colby Access, not Colby Guest Access. Switch networks if necessary.

Re-add printer

First, remove the printer.

  1. Press Win+I on your keyboard to open the Settings app.
  2. Click Devices -> Printers & Scanners.
  3. Find the offending printer, select it, and click Remove Device.
  4. Click Yes when asked to confirm removal.

Once the printer has been removed, re-add it by following the appropriate steps found here.

"Colby Access Wireless - Update Profile" fix in Software Center

  1. Open the Start Menu, and search for Software Center. Open the resulting app.
  2. Click in the Search box found at the top right of the window, and type Update Profile and press the Enter key.

  4. After the item has completed, restart your machine and try printing again.
     

Windows - Personal Computers

Install all Windows updates

  1. Press Win+I on your keyboard to open the Settings app.
  2. Click Update & Security -> Check for Updates
  3. Install any available updates, and try printing again.

Kyocera V2 Fix

  1. Open a Windows Explorer window, and enter the following in the Address Bar found at the top of the screen, followed by the Enter key:
    \\filer\Software\Windows\Printing\Windows11\Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. Right-click Kyocera-v2.exe and click Copy
  3. Paste the file on your desktop, and run it.
  4. Once the installer completes, try printing again.
