Exporting Your WordPress Site

Exporting a WordPress Site to an XML File

  1. Go to web.colby.edu.
  2. Log in to your WordPress site.
  3. Click on Dashboard > Tools > Export.
  4. Click the Download Export File button. WordPress will create an XML file for you to save to your computer containing your posts, page comments, categories, and tags.

Once you’ve saved the download file, you can use Site Admin > Tools > Import > WordPress from another WordPress site to import this data.

Note: this export process does not save any site images. You will need to manually export any site images you want to keep. For more information about export media, visit https://wordpress.com/support/export/#exporting-the-media-library
