Tascam-Marantz Kit

A self-contained audio recorder with optional microphone.

The Tascam-Marantz kit will include:

  • Headphones

  • XLR Cable

  • Microphone

  • Power Cable

  • AA Batteries (3x)

  • USB Cable

  • Tascam DR-40 Linear PCM Recorder

  • SD Card 

Setting up the Equipment

Hardware Configuration

  1. Check that the recorder has an SD card and battery. The battery panel is located on the back. The SD card slot is underneath a silicon slot on the right hand side.

  2. Hold the HOME button to turn the recorder on

  3. Plug the headphones into the TRS port (headphone jack) on the left hand side of the recorder so you can listen to what the recorder hears.

  4. Press the red RECORD button to start recording. This will by default record with the built in microphones located at the top of the device.

    1. Press RECORD again to pause your recording. 

    2. Press again to restart.

    3. Press the HOME button to end the recording

Settings

The settings listed here are a very limited list of what is available within the recorder. For more information, see the Additional References section below. Run test audio with the camera, and if audio doesn't sound or feel right, ask us for help.

Switching mics

  1. To connect the external microphone simply plug in the XLR cable to one of the ports on the bottom of the recorder and the microphone

  2. Then click the REC MODE button and navigate to SOURCE and hit the ENTER. Then you can switch between the built-in mic (INT MIC ST) or your external mic (EXT IN ½)

Deleting a recording

  1. Hit the QUICK button and then click DELETE then YES
