How do I update my personal emergency address?

Colby has created a Zoom Phone Personal Emergency Address knowledge base article with a step by step guide.

Why do I need to set my personal emergency address?

Setting your emergency address location is important for your safety. It allows Zoom to report your location during an Emergency Call.

I work from campus. Do I still need to enter my personal home address?

No, you do not; Zoom will use the network device information on campus to determine which building you are calling from.

What location will Zoom provide when I call 911 from my mobile device using the Zoom mobile app?

When you dial 911 from the Zoom mobile app on your mobile device, Zoom will automatically route your call to your mobile carrier's network and then provide your location to emergency services.

I'm a desk phone / handset user. Do I still need to enter my personal home address for emergencies?

If your desk is set on campus, you will not have to enter your emergency address. Zoom will use the network device information your desk set is connect to determine your emergency location.
If your desk is set off campus, you will need to set your emergency location information.

How do I confirm what address is being reported for emergencies?

You can dial 933 at any time, which will provide feedback with the address that would be reported in case of an emergency.

How is my information being shared? I want to keep my address private.

Location Permission does not allow any other tracking except your location data in the event of a 911 call. This is regulated by federal law and mandated by our contract with Zoom. Your emergency address is shared with your Zoom Phone administrator in ITS. ITS will NOT use that information in any way.

I still have questions. Who do I contact?

If you still have questions, comments, or concerns, please contact Colby ITS at support@colby.edu.
