Creating Interactive Content Using H5P in Moodle

This article describes how to create and insert H5P interactive content in Moodle. H5P content allows instructors to enhance course activities with digital storytelling, game maps, timeline, and more. This process uses the Moodle Content bank and H5P activity module.

H5P content allows instructors to enhance course activities with interactive videos, quizzes, presentations, and more. This process uses the Moodle Content bank and H5P activity module. Creating H5P content in the Content bank

1. Navigate to the course home page.

2. Click More and select Content bank from the navigation menu.

3. Click Add and select a content type, such as Interactive Video or Game Map.

4. Complete the required fields to build the content.

5. Click Save. The file is now available in the Content bank.

 

Uploading an existing H5P file to the Content bank

1. Navigate to the course Content bank.

2. Click Upload.

3. Click Choose a file, then select a .h5p file from your device.

4. Click Upload this file.

5. Click Save to add the file to the Content bank.


Inserting H5P content into a course

1. Navigate to the course home page.

2. Turn on Edit mode at the top right corner of the home page.

3. Under the desired course section, click on the plus sign and select Activity or resource.

4. Select H5P.

5. In the Package file field, click the plus sign to open the File picker.

6. Click on Content bank. Select the H5P content you wish to display.

7. Configure display options, availability, and grading settings as needed.

8. Click Save and return to course.

 

Additional Information

  • H5P files stored in the Content bank can be reused across activities and courses.

  • Editing content in the Content bank will update all linked activities that use the same file.
