Summary: This article describes how to print documents double-sided (duplex printing) on both Windows and macOS devices. Duplex printing helps save paper and is supported by most modern printers.
Windows 11
For a Single Print Job
- Open the document you wish to print.
- Click File > Print.
- Select your printer from the list.
- Click Printer Properties, Preferences, or More settings (depending on the application and printer model).
- In the Printing Preferences window, locate the duplex printing option:
- Look for settings like Print on Both Sides, Two-Sided, or Duplex Printing.
- Choose Flip on Long Edge (recommended) or Flip on Short Edge.
- Click OK to save settings and return to the Print dialog.
- Click Print.
Note: If the printer does not support automatic duplex printing, the user may need to manually reinsert the pages. The system will provide instructions if required.
To Set Duplex Printing as Default
- Open the Settings app by pressing Windows + I.
- Navigate to Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Select the printer from the list.
- Click Printer Properties.
- Go to the Device Settings tab.
- Ensure the Duplex Unit is set to Installed.
- Click OK.
macOS
- Open the document to be printed.
- Choose File > Print.
- Select the printer from the Printer drop-down menu.
- Click Show Details if the full print dialog is not visible.
- Check the box for Two-Sided.
- From the drop-down menu below the orientation preview, choose Layout.
