Installing Stata 18 on non-Colby computers
Summary
Stata 18 is a data analysis software. This guide explains how to install on both MacOS and Windows devices for non-Colby owned computers.
Body
For MacOS devices:
In
Finder
, choose
Go > Connect to server...
from the menu bar.
Type
smb://filer.colby.edu
, then click
Connect
.
Enter Colby credentials if prompted.
Select
Software
from the pop-up menu.
Navigate to
Macintosh > Stata
Copy the file
Stata_SE_18.5_Site_24-25YR.pkg
to your desktop
Double-click the file to open
Follow the instructions from the installation wizard until it finishes
Launch
Stata
from the
Applications
folder. If prompted, run any updates that are available.
For Windows devices:
In
File Explorer
, enter
\\filer
into the address bar.
Enter Colby credentials if prompted.
Navigate to
Software > Windows > Stata
Copy the folder
Stata 18 Windows Installer
to your desktop.
Open the folder from your desktop
Right-click on the file
RUN_AS_ADMIN_Stata18_Installer
> click
Run as Administrator
Wait for the installation to complete. This should take about 3 minutes.
Go to the start menu and search for Stata. Click on
StataNow 18 SE
to open. If prompted, run any updates that are available.
